Around 55,000 holidaymakers flocked to Nha Trang, the capital city of the central coast’s Khanh Hoa Province, to enjoy the Sea Festival 2007, which wrapped up late last week.       Around 55,000 holidaymakers flocked to Nha Trang, the capital city of the central coast’s Khanh Hoa Province, to enjoy the Sea Festival 2007, which wrapped up late last week.

The biennial event from June 9-15 saw hotel occupancy rates hovering close to 100 percent and revenues for the year’s festival trebled those from 2005’s event, said Director of the provincial Tourism and Trade Department, Tran Son Hai.

The festival featured over 50 entertainment programs including a sculpture symposium, film festival, Cham pottery and textile exhibitions, a beer festival, rock and hip-hop performances and fashion shows that included models and artists from France and the Republic of Korea.

The high visitor turn out also had Nha Trang's cash registers ringing as local businesses rang up receipts of close to VND60 billion, 3.3 times more than 2005’s festival.
