Bai Coi – a civilisation of 2,000 years ago

This is the conclusion of archaeologists about Bai Coi relic in Nghi Xuan district, in the central province of Ha Tinh.

Bai Coi was excavated from December 2008 to January 2009 on a total area of 160sq.m, with seven holes, by archaeologists from the Vietnam History Museum.
Experts unearthed 16 groups of tombs with 14 tombs made of soil, one jar tomb and one vase tomb. All tombs are oriented in the northeastern-southwestern direction. Many rare objects made of stone, bronze, iron, terra-cotta and pottery were discovered in the seven holes.
After the excavation, scientists from the Vietnam History Museum and the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Agency said that Bai Coi is a 2000-year-old civilization. Further excavations will likely unearth many more invaluable secrets of the ancient civilisation. VietNamNet/TT Source : vietnamnet.vn
