Central airport to receive international-standard facelift

      The Phu Bai Airport in the central Vietnamese city of Hue will be upgraded to international standards, capable to serve at least one million annual passengers by 2010.

Under the VND100billion (US$6.24mln) renovation, the airport’s runway will be expanded and equipped with better lighting systems.

The airport targets to move 50,000 tons of cargoes per year by 2010 and double its passenger and cargo capacities by 2020.

Last year, Phu Bai received 428,000 passengers.

After the revamp, Phu Bai would be the country’s 4th international airport beside its counterparts in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
