Disgruntled British vessel reinstates Nha Trang leg of trip
14:56 04/03/2009

The British cruise vessel Aurora, which threatened to cancel a visit to Nha Trang after being refused entry because of a low-hanging cable car system, will visit the Vietnamese resort town after all.

It will arrive in Nha Trang, one of the world’s most beautiful bays, March 12 with some 2,600 international tourists, and moor some 1.5 nautical miles away from the port.

It will transfer the passengers using two tenders which are able to carry 100 people each at a time.

The Aurora was denied permission to enter the port because it stands 50 m high while the permissible clearance for vessels beneath the Vinpearl cable car system is only 49 m.

The ship’s officials said its passengers, particularly the elderly and people with disabilities would find it difficult to transfer to smaller vessels for going ashore.

The telpher system connects Nha Trang with Hon Tre island where the privately owned Vinpearl resort is situated.
