13:22 04/03/2009

Martin Yan, widely known for his cooking show Yan Can Cook, will visit Phan Thiet on Vietnam’s central coast on Jan. 17-18 following his earlier visits to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other places.

Yan and his entourage of 69 members from some Hong Kong tourism associations began the trip last Wednesday to help popularize Vietnam as a tourism destination.

In Phan Thiet, they will produce posters of some famous city landscapes like Mui Ne and Ham Tien bays.

They will also visit some markets and handicraft villages before leaving for the Mekong Delta.

During his visit to HCMC Monday and Tuesday, Yan held a cooking show at the Saigontourist School of Hotel and Tourism, making some Vietnamese dishes like cha gio (spring rolls) and chao tom (grilled shrimp paste).

Martin Yan, a Chinese-born American, is a highly respected food consultant, cooking instructor, and prolific author who has written some 26 cookbooks, including the award winning Martin Yan’s Feast and Martin Yan’s Asian Favorites.
