The National Administration of Tourism said Vietnam welcomed 182,000 holidaymakers from France last year, down by 0.9 percent from 2007.

Flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will work with travel companies in France and Vietnam to offer discounts of up to 25 percent to French travelers.

The airline said the discounts would be offered in two periods, from April 21 to June 19 and from August 21 to October 20.

The discounts are being promoted on a number of popular websites, including Le Monde, Courrier International, Yahoo Voyage and Telerama, as well as Vietnam Airlines’ French website.

The “Vietnam Sea Tourism Festival 2009” will be also held from April 28 to 29 at the Pierre Cardin Fashion Center in Paris to try to attract more European tourists to Vietnam’s beaches.
