International tourists flock to southern cities
17:00 12/03/2009 ![]() The Bermuda-flagged cruise ship, the Diamond Princess, dropped anchor at the PTSC Phu My Port on March 11, bringing 2,600 foreign tourists and a 1,100-strong crew from Thailand to southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
During their one-day stay, the passengers visited the oil-rich city of Vung Tau and saw the sights on offer at Ho Chi Minh City before continuing their voyage to Cambodia. As scheduled, the Diamond Princess will return to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on March 18 to visit other tourist hotspots in Vietnam’s southern region. On March 6, the province received around 2,350 international tourists and crew on board the five-star vessel, Legend of the Seas. A PTSC Phu My Port official said that two luxury international cruise liners are also registered for tours to Vung Tau city and Ho Chi Minh City on March 14 and 17. They are the UK-flagged Queen Victoria, with more than 3,000 passengers and crew on board, and the Azcadia, from Bermuda, with a complement of 2,700 tourists and crew.
