17:00 26/03/2004 Hue opens e-library ![]() The Hue University on March 23 opened the most modern electronic library in Vietnam with assistance from the East-West Meeting, a US non-governmental organization and the RMIT University of Australia, with funding of US$5.4mil. The library has a network of 500 computers, a networked Internet connection, millions of electronic book titles and magazines and thousands of printed book titles. It is also linked with databases of the world’s large libraries. The library also has meeting rooms for online workshops. (Source: Tuoi Tre) German Cultural Centre founded in HCM City The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DDAD, the German Ministry of Higher Education) and the Goethe Institute have signed a deal to establish the German Cultural Centre in HCM City to expand the country’s cultural activities in Vietnam. The centre will help satisfy Vietnamese student’s need for information about German universities and schools, as well as study of the German language. The centre will operate under the management of DDAD and the Goethe Institute, with funding from a cultural fund facilitated by the Goethe Institute, the Hanoi-based DDAD Office, and the German Economic Association in HCM City.
