  570 billion VND for the development and preservation of culture

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced the total capital for the National Objective Programme on Culture in the country in 2009, which is worth 570 billion VND.

360billion VND of this is as development capital and the rest is towards the budget.

The capital will be spent on preserving cultural heritage, building cultural life at grassroots level and developing the cinema. Further, there are projects to build cultural houses for disadvantaged villages worth 600 million VND each, to develop district libraries worth 500 million VND each, and to equip cars for providing mobile information for localities.

Over 1,400 relics and temples related to Hung King

According to an inadequate statistic, there are more than 1,400 relics and temples related to King Hung and leaders of the period, and Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc provinces have more than 600 worship places.

Based on proposal of the northern Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee and related ministries, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan approved a project on organising the anniversary of King Hung’s every year and raising funds to upgrade Hung temple historical relics.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee to coordinate with the Ministries of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Investment and Planning, and Finance and related agencies and localities to implement the project.

Photo exhibition on Vietnam’s images held in Seoul  

More than 220 photos on  Vietnam  are being displayed at the  “Extend a Hand to  Vietnam” exhibition, launched by Visual Worship Institute in Seoul  .  
 
The photos, taken by 14 Republic of Korea’s photographers, features Vietnamese landscape, daily life, and the country’s achievements in the renewal process.  
 
Addressing the open ceremony of the exhibition from April 2-15, Vietnamese Envoy Hoang Xuan Hai expressed his hope that Korean people will gain better understanding on Vietnam’s country and people. 
       
The photo exhibition is co-sponsored by the Vietnam Embassy in the Republic of Korea and Korea Foundation.
