Attractive tour and travel discounts have encouraged more people to book a mini-break for the long weekend created by the April 30 Reunification Day and May 1 Labor Day public holidays, Vietnam News Agency reported.

This year’s holidays fall on a Thursday and Friday, giving most employees a four-day break.

Among the popular domestic destinations for the long weekend are the central resort cities of Danang and Nha Trang, the “ancient town” of Hoi An, the mountainous northern town of Sapa and Phu Quoc Island.

The primitive landscape of Ba Na tourist site, where a new cable car is in operation at Ba Na Mountain, is also expected to attract more tourists.

Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong are popular destinations and discount package tours to South Korea have been heavily booked.

According to industry insiders, average tour prices for the public holiday long weekend this year rose by only US$30 to $40 for outbound tours while the price of domestic tours hardly changed.
