Leading American carrier Delta Air Lines announced Monday it would open routes between Vietnam’s two largest cities and the Americas this month.

Delta Air Lines offers customers service to more destinations than any other global airline with Delta and Delta Connection servicing 500 destinations in 105 countries. With more than 60 new international routes added in the last year, Delta is adding international flights at a faster rate than any other major US airline and leads the world with 32 trans-Atlantic flights. It is also a founding member of SkyTeam, a global airline alliance that provides customers with extensive worldwide destinations, flights, and services. US carrier United Airlines plans to open a daily HCMC – Los Angeles route on October 29, as the world’s highest density of overseas Vietnamese resides in southern California. The daily flight would stop in Hong Kong with continuing non-stop service to Los Angeles. E-tickets for the daily LA-HCMC flights have been on sale since June. Previously, United has flown to Los Angeles on a less frequent schedule. National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is struggling to open its planned direct US flights and has submitted proposals to authorities to delay the opening of such flights until late 2008. This is the second time the carrier has delayed the flights. The carrier attributed the postponements to strong competition coming from American companies. Delta Airlines Vietnam offices are located at 31 Ly Chinh Thang, District 3, HCMC and Vincom City, 191 Ba Trieu street, Hanoi. Reported by Le Cong Son – Compiled by Dong Ha Source : thanhniennews.com
