Vietnam central region shows off tourist attractions in Thailand
17:13 04/03/2009 ![]() The show, presided over by the Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT), was attended by representatives of more than 60 travel companies and airlines and reporters from 30 Thai newspapers. Executives from more than 30 tourist companies and hotels from the Vietnamese side are in Bangkok looking for partnerships with Thai partners. Thanik Kachonkitisakul, general manager of Thai tourist firm 2020 Travel, said the number of visitors to Vietnam’s central region from Bangkok had spurted of late. “It is hoped that this year tourist arrivals from Thailand to central Vietnam will double,” he told Thanh Nien. A VNAT official said Thailand was an important partner for Vietnam in promoting tourism in the central region, particularly after the East-West economic corridor was inaugurated. Vietnamese and Thai tourism authorities also launched an advertising campaign in Vietnam last May to promote travel between the two nations. Called the Thailand Road Show 2007, the campaign highlighted the “amazing opportunities” for travel in the Buddhist kingdom. It also aimed to enhance co-operation in developing travel to Vietnam from Thailand. Reported by Truong Dien Thang from Bangkok – Translated by Thu Thuy Source : thanhniennews.com
