Vietnam seeks to become more tourist-friendly
14:21 04/03/2009

A top tourism official said Friday Vietnam was considering waiving value-added tax on goods and souvenirs bought by international tourists.

Hoang Tuan Anh, deputy director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, also said the government was considering further visa exemptions to tourists from some countries.

His agency would recommend the hiring of foreign agencies to advertise and promote Vietnamese tourism around the world.

The country hoped to attract over 4 million international tourists this year, a 10 percent rise year-on-year.
