Vietnam welcomes 3.26 mln foreign visitors in Jan-Nov, up 25 pct

      Vietnam received 290,000 foreign tourists in November, raising total foreign arrivals to 3.26 million in the first 11 months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), the increase in the number of foreign visitors to Vietnam, especially those from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies, was attributed to the country's hosting of the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November with many cultural and artistic activities to promote the country and its people.

South Korea topped the list with 378,300 tourists, an increase of 29 percent. It was followed by the US with 351,300 arrivals, 15.7 percent; Japan, 347,800, 14.3 percent; Australia, 152,300, 13.9 percent; and Thailand, 108,400, 38.4 percent.

During the APEC week, all hotels in big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang ran at full capacity, said the VNAT.
