Vietnam welcomes some 2,000 tourists on luxury cruise vessels
16:35 04/03/2009 ![]() The visitors comprised 943, mainly Australians, from Star Cruises’ Superstar Gemini which docked at the Saigon Port and 1,000, mainly Chinese, from the Costa Allegra at Cai Lan Port in Quang Ninh province.
The visitors on the Superstar Gemini made excursions to popular tourist sites in HCMC like the History Museum, the War Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Municipal Post Office, Ben Thanh Market, Giac Lam Pagoda and some beauty spots in neighboring My Tho city.
The travelers on the Costa Allegra toured Ha Long Bay, listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site before leaving for Hong Kong yesterday evening.
The Superstar Gemini left for Singapore Friday morning.
Saigontourist Travel Service Co. reported this was the first Star Cruises’ vessel to Vietnam this year. Last year, Star Cruises brought as many as 10,000 tourists to Vietnam.
